Cleaning of water tanks begins at Noida society where 200 residents fell ill
Noida: The health department set up a camp at Ajnara Homes, where 200 residents complained of stomach-ache and vomiting and showed other symptoms of diarrhoea, possibly from water contamination. At least 100 people, including eight children, were treated at the camp on Wednesday.
"Medicines and ORS were given to the patients," said a doctor at the camp.

On Monday, one resident was admitted to a hospital after falling ill. A team of health officials inspected the society on Tuesday and found that the overhead water tanks in the towers as well as the underground tanks were not clean. "The maintenance team has been instructed to clean the tanks thoroughly and cover the lids of the tanks," said DMO Shruti Verma.
Meanwhile, the society's maintenance team began cleaning of the tanks on Wednesday. "There are 6 underground tanks that will be cleaned first, followed by the overhead tanks on each towe," said Indu Chaudhary, head of the maintenance team
According to officials, the tanks were last cleaned in Sept 2024. A fine of Rs 25 lakh has been imposed on the builder for lack of maintenance, and GNIDA has also issued a notice for water dues worth Rs 2.5 crore. GNIDA officials, who collected the water samples on Tuesday, said the reports are still awaited. "Further action will be decided after the test reports," said a senior official.
